Mike Gianoni – In The Community
Veteran Support
Mike's involvement with the veteran community dates back many years. Inspired by the service and sacrifices of others, including his closest family members, Mike works with a number of organizations that support and empower veterans. This includes Warrior Sailing and their mission to provide maritime education and skills-building opportunities for wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans. In Charleston, Mike and Blackbaud support the Charleston Ocean Racing Association's Military Salute Regatta, which features local active-duty military members, veterans, and nonprofit partners every summer.
Animal Welfare
Mike's work in animal welfare extends to organizations like the Charleston Animal Society. A proud owner of pitbulls and advocate for their adoption, Mike is dedicated to improving the lives of animals and fostering a more compassionate society. In 2020 on behalf of Blackbaud, Mike and Kathy Gianoni accepted the Charleston Animal Society's Community Ambassador Award in recognition of Mike's involvement in their adoption advocacy campaigns and the Blackbaud team's volunteerism with their Pets for Life Program.
Local Leadership
Across the East Coast, Mike has given back to the communities where he and his family have called home. His strategic guidance and support has helped amplify the impact of local organizations including the LibertyHealth System in New Jersey, the American Red Cross Southeast County in Massachusetts, and the University of New Haven in Connecticut. Mike also continues to champion community efforts and involvement through his role as a tech executive with Blackbaud. Alongside the Aspen Institute’s Jane Wales, Mike serves as Co-Chair of the Generosity Commission, a leadership group that supports Americans’ spirit of generosity through everyday giving, volunteering, and civic engagement.
Mike proudly serves on the International African American Museum board in Charleston—a new museum that honors the untold story of the international African American experience. The museum officially opened to the public in 2023, with the support of local partners. Blackbaud’s $1 million contribution in 2016 helped launch the museum’s Digital Media Lab, enabling visitors to engage with the museum and its genealogy resources from anywhere in the world.
Each day I’m inspired by the sacrifices so many have made throughout my life and for the communities around me. Giving back is the best way we can show gratitude and help bring opportunities to others in need.
