Generosity Commission

The Generosity Commission was officially launched in 2021 in response to one of the most significant trends reshaping civil society in the United States over the last several decades: despite overall giving increasing, the proportion of Americans who give to and volunteer with nonprofit organizations is declining.

Co-chaired by Blackbaud President and CEO Mike Gianoni and Aspen Institute Vice President Jane Wales, the Generosity Commission’s purpose is to celebrate and support everyday givers and volunteers in the United States. It recommends actions that policymakers, business leaders, foundation officers, and nonprofit innovators can take to encourage giving, volunteering, and a vibrant civil society.
